Corneal Associates of New Jersey Celebrates its 30th Anniversary

Fairfield, New Jersey (PRWEB) July 19, 2013

“Time flies when you’re having fun,” says Dr. Theodore Perl who founded Corneal Associates of New Jersey in August of 1983. Dr. Perl started his practice in West Orange New Jersey 30 years ago after extensive training in corneal and refractive surgery. Since that time, Dr. Perl has performed over 15,000 eye surgeries including full-thickness cornea transplants(PK), partial thickness transplants (DSAEK), LASIK, PRK, and so much more.

Because corneal transplant surgery is so time consuming, demanding and challenging, not many surgeons take on this type of surgery. Nonetheless, corneal transplantation has been a labor of love for Dr. Perl, and he has built one of the most prestigious cornea transplant centers in the world.

Corneal Associates of New Jersey has paved the way in surgical and technological advancements since the doors first opened. Their surgeons were amongst the first in the area to perform partial thickness cornea transplants for patients that suffer from Fuchs’ Dystrophy, iFS technology for All-Laser Vision Correction, Collagen Cross-Linking (CXL) for patients with keratoconus, and Lipiflow for Dry Eye Disease.

After almost 28 years of offering patients the latest Innovations in eye care, Corneal Associates of New Jersey was in need of more space to house the best technology available. In 2011, Corneal Associates moved to a new 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in Fairfield, NJ. The new location offered its patients a modern environment and the latest advancements in diagnostic testing and technology, all in a warm and friendly, caring atmosphere.

One of Dr. Perl’s most fulfilling achievements has been teaching other surgeons. He is the director of an internationally renowned one-year corneal fellowship program, training surgeons from around the world who desire to become specialists in corneal surgery. Throughout the years, Dr. Perl has trained dozens of surgeons who now practice in all parts of the nation.

Over the years, Dr. Perl and the physicians at Corneal Associates of New Jersey have touched thousands of lives by helping individuals see better and ultimately improving their overall quality of life.

“I’ve been fortunate to help so many people save or improve their vision over the years. My patients have helped me just as much as I’ve helped them. They have fulfilled my dreams of not only being a physician, but also a subspecialist. To be able to restore someone’s vision, or help a patient see without glasses or contact lenses is what makes me tick. I look forward to providing these services to my patients for years come,” says Dr. Perl.
