The Kenilworth Club and Redefined Fitness Team up for Veterans and The Mission Continues

Chicago, Illinios (PRWEB) February 12, 2015

The Kenilworth Club, Redefined Fitness and The Mission Continues will partner to lead the 1st annual Fitness Challenge on February 22, 2015. Redefined Fitness will host the fitness challenge from 9am to 12 noon at the Kenilworth Club. Proceeds from the event will go directly to The Mission Continues. The cost of participation will be $ 40.

“I felt a call to action,” says Donna Calk, after chatting with her West Point classmate at their 20th West Point reunion. Her classmate, Spencer Kympton is the president of The Mission Continues (http://ift.tt/IAEsjR), a nonprofit organization that empowers veterans to serve their country in new ways. The Mission Continues focuses the talent and energy of veterans to tackle challenges like chronic homelessness, food insecurity and fitness and health, through a unique model that provides reciprocal benefit for the veteran and the local community.

After reconnecting with Spencer and learning about The Mission Continues, Donna returned to her hometown of Kenilworth and requested a call to action from some members of her community. “My idea was to work with The Mission Continues to develop a grassroots fundraising event that incorporated a fitness challenge. I was thrilled that Redefined Fitness and the Kenilworth Club immediately and enthusiastically jumped on board.”

Both organizations offered up their space and services to support the fitness challenge. “The opportunity for Redefined Fitness to give back to those who have given so much was an easy decision. We are privileged to take part in this effort to raise money for The Mission Continues,” said Corey Shackelford from Redefined Fitness.

The event is open to everyone including all ages and levels of fitness. The challenge will consist of five stations that are representative of the five branches of the military (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard).

The fitness challenge will also include military style exercises such as:

Squats
Shoulder presses
Burpees
Push ups
Mountain climbers and more

The event will be held February 22nd from 9am to 12pm at the Kenilworth Club. Participants can sign up for a one hour time slot (9am-10am, 10am-11am or 11am-12pm) of their choice, based on availability. The cost is a $ 40 donation that will go directly to The Mission Continues. Participants are encouraged to join Redefined Fitness and learn more about The Mission Continues as well as the challenges this generation of veterans face. Let this be your Call for Action, sign up, participate or feel free to donate to The Mission Continues.
